"I like poetry as a storytelling medium because it encourages me to paint a picture with as few words as possible. I like the exercise of choosing the right "shaped" words for the verse, also the intellectual challenge of finding a word that rhymes, with an appropriate meaning. Sometimes I know the words I want to include and write a verse to fit them, and sometimes I choose the rhythm of the verse and then find the words. There are two forms of creativity at play with poetry; the written word and the interpretation by the person reciting it. As a poet, it is most rewarding to share both".
